Strabismus is a condition that affects 1-2% of children and tends to be hereditary. It is a condition that needs to be addressed promptly. Strabismus outside of the age of 6 months is abnormal. Strabismus affects the child’s ability to develop binocular vision, or 3D vision. It can permanently affect the child’s vision, leading to a condition called amblyopia.
There are many treatment options depending on the type of strabismus. The earlier we start treatment, the better the prognosis.
